What is expected of new clients?

New clients are asked to fill out a New Client Form.  You are welcome to download these forms here and fill them out in advance of your first visit. Blank copies are available at our salon as well. New clients must also bring pet's vaccination forms for Rabies. Our primary concern is the safety and health of all pets we care for.

What if I have to cancel?

Please cancel at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment. In some cases, pets arriving more than 20 minutes late may need to be rescheduled. No-shows will be noted. After 1 “No Show,” you will be required to pre-pay for your grooming appointment in full prior to your next appointment. If you do not cancel within 24 hours, we reserve the right to charge a $20.00 no show fee.

My dog is matted does he have to be shaved?

It depends. If the dog has a single mat or two, we do our best to remove the mat and continue. We make every attempt to keep the fur the length requested, however, severe matting will likely need to be shaved. In that case, a Stripping Form is required to proceed. This can only be determined by first evaluating your pet’s coat condition. We do not shave your pet without first notifying you and try our best to preserve as much of your pet’s coat as possible. The pet's comfort comes first!

Will my pet be with or around other pets?

The grooming process will be one-on-one. We have separate rooms to house pets to ensure their comfort. Cage-free options are available upon request.

What about aggressive pets?

Kat strives to minimize pet stress and help your pet feel as comfortable as possible. We identify the source of any aggression and do what we can to calm the pet down. In rare circumstances, a muzzle may be necessary to reduce the risk of harm to the groomer and pet.

Do you vaccinate pets?

No. We do not offer medical services at this time.

What is the youngest age for cats and dog that you will groom?

Kat starts grooming cats and dogs that are 12 weeks or older, assuming they have all vaccinations.

How long does grooming take?

The typical stay for a pet at the shop is 2-3 hours for small to medium sized dogs, and 3-4 hours for larger breeds or for pets receiving hand scissoring or dematting. We are happy to give you our best estimate for time when you drop off your pet. Upon request, We are also happy to give you a 30 minute courtesy call prior to finishing the grooming.

Can I stay with my pet during the grooming?

No. In our experience, pets are usually calmer and better behaved for grooming when the owner is not present. If the pet is unable to calm down, we will call you to have you assist.
